Sheetal Woods

About Dr. Woods

Health is a big picture problem, which is why Dr. Sheetal Woods always looks for the holistic approach to bring people back to wellness. She seamlessly weaves her naturopathic practice along with her Ayurvedic roots to offer her patients a deeper look into where their dis-ease is coming from.

Dr. Woods thrives as a primary care physician with emphasis in gastrointestinal disorders including IBS, IBD and SIBO, autoimmune diseases, and hormone therapies for men & women with emphasis in genetic testing.

Health is the harmonious combination of the body, mind and spirit. Dr. Woods thrives as a primary care physician as she helps patients uncover their innate imbalances. Utilizing her Ayurvedic background, Dr. Woods works with subtle lifestyle changes along with Eastern & Western herbal supplements to help patients address elemental imbalances. This doesn't have to happen all at once, in fact, she is a big proponent of walking the pace that you are ready to experience.

Ayurvedic medicine is a natural system of medicine that originated in India more than 3,000 years ago that translates to the “science of life”. When Dr. Woods works with a condition like dermatitis (inflammation of the skin) she sees this as an imbalance of the fire element in the patient and works with herbs, lifestyle changes and other natural remedies that help cool down the inflammation.

Your GI system is how your body sorts out the fuel from the trash and has a large impact on how all of our body’s systems function. Dr. Woods understands there intricacies of these systems and works with hand-in-hand with other professional Gastroenterologists across the country to dive deep into patients issues to co-manage their symptoms when needed. Dr. Woods has had great success treating Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Irritable Bowel Disease (IBS/IBD). She takes a holistic approach to improving patients' lives by balancing their gut bacteria and working with stress management to ultimately heal their gut.

Disease is caused by imbalances in the body and, at their extreme, manifest as auto-immune disorders. Dr. Woods considers all organ systems and symptoms when diagnosing patients to see if there is an underlying disease that is present and wreaking havoc on the entire body. To get clear answers Dr. Woods has great success using the diagnostic power of genetic lab testing and labs to pinpoint the exact gene expressions in the body where disease is found. For example, a patient may have a propensity for a gene mutation that causes higher cholesterol, or possibly genes that code for lower dopamine and serotonin that can result in anxiety and depression. By understanding your own gene expression Dr. Woods can look beyond the symptoms to provide you with a holistic approach to helping you get back to optimal health.

As we age our hormone expression changes which can make monumental shifts in how you feel. Hormones are responsible for metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep, and mood, among other things. Dr. Woods provides patients with a full diagnosis of their endocrine system as a whole and works with natural treatments such as herbs and lifestyle changes before suggesting more therapeutic options like BioIdentical Hormone Replace Therapy (BHRT) or Pellet Insertion. Dr. Woods is happy to work with women undergoing menopause as well as men with testosterone deficiency who experience low muscle mass and low energy.

Dr. Woods believes health is about happiness and loves to work with patients to get them back to their optimal health.
